N17 Ballindine-Carrownurlaur Road Realignment

Description of the Works:
This project involved the construction of approximately 2.4km of Standard Single Type 1 Carriageway, typically with 2 x 3.65 carriageway, 2 x 2.5 hard shoulder, and verges of approximately 3.0m. Approximately 1.4km was predominantly online realignment and widening, 1km approximately is new alignment construction. This involved works through areas of bog/peat that had to be excavated to solid formation and removad off site.
Works also entailed modification and re-alignment of 3no. existing local side-road junctions and 3no. new junctions including numerous access points, domestic and agricultural with construction of associated roads.
This involved interface with and accomodation of property owners adjacent to works
Earthworks - Bulk dig of approximately 100,000 cubes of material (peat/bog) and removal off site
Importing of approximately 150,000 cubes of Stone
The new road section was tied into the existing road with live traffic flow being maintained.
Laying and compacting of road construction stone material
Laying and compacting of road construction bituminous materials 30,000m2 including HRA, Binder & Base Courses.
Continuous Concrete Kerbing
Diversion of services including laying new watermain and completing tie in to existing, diversion of ESB and Eircom services
Placing road studs
Erecting road signs and installing and maintaining a Traffic Management System.
P&D Lydons (PSCS) In house health and Safety Officer was responsible for the safety of all men on site during the works.this involved,regular site visits,site inspections,safety meetings,all the time safety develpoment Installation of precast concrete culvert across new carriagway and installing new precast headwalls

Removal of Japanese Knotweed
Works were carried out on the N17 with an AADT > 12,000. Traffic Management was designed,implemented and moniotred through out the works by P&D Lydon.
A Stage 2 & 3 Road Safety Audit was carried out on the Temporary Traffic Management that was desingned,implemeted,maintained by P&D Ldyon.
