Church Courtyard Improvement Works
The site is located in Athlone Town Centre Civic Plaza. Works were carried out in a busy urban town centre situated with high numbers of Pedestrians & Traffic situated in a busy retail area. Access to all premises remained open while works progressed.
The project involved works to and around the existing church which is a protected structure, demolition of the existing carpark and old stone wall. A section of the stone wall was rebuilt.
The contract required the installation of new hammered finish Limestone Pillars with Limestone base blocks in between and 1.4m high cast iron railings installed on top of the base blocks to maintain the locations natural heritage.
All new uplighter spot lights were installed around the new church carpark to light up the new stonework. New Eyelid lights were installed on the new Limestone base blocks.
New Automatic gates were installed to open with a key fob and close automatically via sensor.
Instillation of new street furniture - Bicycle Stands, bins, benches
All new ducting for electrical works was installed, as well as drainage and watermain works. These works were carried out under monasterial consent when excavating.
1000m2 of new tarmac surfacing .
2000m2 of Limestone Paving laid in trafficed carpark 150mm(d)x 300mm(w) x 550mm(d)and 50m of Limestone kerbing with hammered & flamed finishes.
