Project Description

Derryadda East Bridge, a four span bridge consisting of a concrete deck slab and mass concrete abutments located on an unmade road just off the N59. The nature of the works included first bridge to be demolished and replaced with a new precast culvert and a new concrete deck. For the existing bridge arch crack repairs, mortar & masonry repairs to the Parapet Wall, and the rebuilding of barriers and fences was completed. Minor drainage works were completed and general bridge remedial works repaired.

The scope of the project included:

  • Devegetation of existing Spandrel and Parapet Walls
  • Bridge in question to be demolished and replaced with a new precast culvert
  • Saddle slab on existing bridge deck and abutments
  • Masonry repair and masonry build of existing spandrel and parapet walls
  • Casting of new concrete aprons and skirts
  • Masonry repointing with NHL-5 lime mortar
  • Minor stonework repairs
  • Masonry stitch repairs
  • Stitch repair of existing masonry arch structures
  • Excavation of soft verges and instatement of rubbing strips
