Project Description

This project involved the reconstruction of 8 road and pedestrian bridges on Regional and Local Roads throughout Co. Galway. These included the following bridges:

Ballynakill Bridge
Philbin’s Bridge
Cooheenaheeny Pedestrian Bridge
Graigabbey Bridge
Curraghduff East Bridge
Shreavagh Bridge
Lough Fadda Bridge
Cloonabricka Bridge

Project Timeline: August 2018 – October 2019

Role: Main Contractor, PSCS

The scope of the project included:

Demolition of existing damaged masonry bridges
Demolition of existing damaged steel and concrete bridges
Bridge Widening to include abutments, decks, parapets
Construction of new bridge structures
Safety Rails and Fencing
Precast culverts
Masonry repair and masonry build of existing spandrel and parapet walls
Construction of RC slab
Casting of new concrete aprons and skirts
Masonry repointing with NHL-5 lime mortar
