N17 Ballindine – Carrownurlar Road Realignment

Project Description

N17 Carrownurlaur to Ballindine Road Scheme consisted of 2.6km of realignment of the N17. It consisted of a mixture of On and Offline works. The online works were complicated by high traffic volumes due to the N17 being a main connection route in the area. 
The offline works included the construction of the proposed road and services corridor through a peat area where up to a 3m dig was required.
Over 113,000 m3 of imported material was required for the project which was hauled by our extensive fleet of trucks.

The scope of the project included:

  • Laying and compacting of road construction stone material
  • Laying and compacting of road construction bituminous materials 30,000m2 including HRA, Binder & Base Courses.
  • Construction of storm water drainage pipeline and gullies from 750mm diameter to 150mm diameter twinwall pipes
  • Construction of storm water attenuation system in the form of 400m3 Stormtech system
  • Drainage works
  • Continuous Concrete Kerbing
  • Diversion of services including laying new watermain and completing tie in to existing, diversion of ESB and Eircom services
  • Placing road studs and Road markings
  • Erecting road signs and installing and maintaining a Traffic Management System
  • Installation of precast concrete culvert across new carriageway and installing new precast headwalls
  • 5km of Site Fencing including Timber Post & Rail, Timber Post & Wire & Palisade
  • Site clearance including hedges, ditches, stone walls
