Project Description

‘The N60 Castlebar to Balla Road Improvement Scheme at Lagnamuck in County Mayo was a project undertaken by P&D Lydon Ltd to enhance a 1.4-kilometer section of the N60 national secondary road. The primary objective was to improve road safety and traffic flow between Castlebar and Balla.

The scope of the project included:

  • 1.4km of 7m wide carriageway, footway, and cycleway.
  • 40,000m³ bulk earthworks, including treatment in Karst areas.
  • 3,000m of fencing.
  • Approximately 500m of vehicular restraint system.
  • 6,000m of drainage.
  • 2 precast culverts.
  • Approximately 2,000m² of lined attenuation pond.
  • 3,000m of combined drainage kerb.
  • 4,000m of utilities.
  • 55,000m² of landscaped planting.
  • Street lighting.
