North Connaught 110 kV Project – Swinford Town Advance Ducting Works

Project Description

The Swinford Town Advance works required a new ESB ducting along Davitt Place, starting near the Courthouse, down and onto Kilkelly Rd (R375) for approx. 950m and down to about 100m from the N5. Works started at the Davitt Place end and progressed daily along the route with each piece completed and closed each day. P&D Lydon employed a sustainable Traffic Management system for the duration of these works with a mixture of road narrows and traffic lights utilised to maintain traffic flows. Given that the project was in an environmentally sensitive area, P&D Lydon employed an extreme ecological approach to the workings being employed. This meant maintaining the requirements of third party’s such as Inland Fisheries Ireland and National Parks and Wildlife Services.
