Quality

Quality Excellence

P&D Lydon assures all their clients that systems are in place to manage projects in an organised and professional manner from planning right through to handover. Each project is assessed in detail in advance, so that the company is confident that it can commit the resources appropriate to ensure satisfactory delivery to the client.

Client Focus

All suppliers and subcontractors are drawn from an approved list of suppliers with a proven track record of performance and reliability. Each client and their project is unique. We review each client’s requirements to understand the specific challenges for their project, to ultimately deliver our works to exceed their expectations.

Contract Plan

Each contract, large or small, benefits from a uniquely produced Contract Plan. This ensures that progress and quality are monitored in an appropriate way for that project, and corrective actions are identified and followed through where required.

Technology

We utilise the latest technology for managing onsite quality control. From tablets, drones, Flex systems, ODM’s and laser scanning for validation.

Continual Improvement

We are committed to always striving for better. By challenging ourselves to continually improve, we learn from experience to move forward and to raise the bar to remain at the forefront in our industry. We hold learning seminars, training and attend industry leading seminars to ensure the continuous professional development of our workforce.

ISO 9001:2015

Our quality system has evolved with technology and years of successful project delivery and is structured and certified in accordance with ISO 9001.

Example of Innovation works : Iarnród Eireann/Irish Rail

P&D Lydon constructed a new carpark facility between the existing railway line (Maynooth-Dublin line) and adjacent housing estate on the southern side of the existing rail platform.
The works required large precast concrete L Wall units to be installed in close proximity to the existing large block work retaining wall to alleviate the load on the old retaining wall. Having previously installed MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) walling we understood the advantages over complexities and construction risks of installing large heavy precast units

We proposed the use of MSE walls for 2 main reasons:

  • Health and safety – smaller lighter more manageable units built in incremental lifts and with simpler foundation designs alongside a 3m high wall.
  • Cost effectiveness – lower manufacture and transport costs, simpler ground preparation and foundation costs, quicker installation time and costs.
These works were able to be carried out while still maintaining the platform live to all pedestrian and train movements.
The works were carried out within a 4-month window which was 3 months quicker than the time allocated. The works, methods, quality, and efficiency were greatly commended by Irish Rail and the design team.
