Johnstown Smarter Travel Phase 1
- Location: Johnstown, Navan, Co. Meath
- Client: Meath County Council
About this Project
This work was designed as part of the Smarter Travel Schemes by Meath County Council and involved the construction of new footpaths and new cycle paths with clear delineation between both pathways.
The project was successfully completed in a very busy part of Navan on the entrance to a primary and secondary school.
The works required that existing path and kerb construction be removed, and new kerbs/services/concrete paths/tarmac surfaced cycleway be constructed in a phased sequence thus allowing pedestrian and vehicular traffic access/egress at all times.
AADT on the route of the works was approx. 7,000 in a 50km/h zone with high volumes of pedestrian traffic due to its proximity in housing estates and local businesses. Access was maintained at all times throughout the works.
