Lime and Aggregate Storage Unit

  • Client: Roadstone
  • Location: Bunratty, County Clare

About this Project

P&D Lydon constructed a large lime storage unit for our clients at their premises in Bunratty. This 1000m2 and 11m high storage unit was to comprise of 3 no 4.5m high insitu concrete walls between the UB305 columns along with Kingspan Cladding

In this project we were able to look at a design change to offer value engineering to our client through the reduction in height of the walls and change of internal walls to columns

The design required the pouring of the slab and foundations together and the steel superstructure to be fixed at slab level. The retaining wall foundations were also combined with column foundations, with the insitu walls then poured into the steel web of the steel columns – this combined design solution allowed for reduction in steel columns dimensions

As PSCS & main contractor we worked closely with our specialist steel erectors to build a first class fit for purpose structure taking careful consideration of its end user
