Maynooth Train Station Campus – South, Car Park Extension
- Client: Iarnród Eireann/Irish Rail
- Location: Maynooth, Co. Kildare
About this Project
P&D Lydon constructed a new carpark facility between the existing railway line (Maynooth-Dublin line) and adjacent housing estate on the southern side of the existing rail platform.
The works required that a reinforced earth retaining wall be constructed up tight to the down platform in the Maynooth Rail Station. These works had to be carried out while still maintaining the platform live to all pedestrian and train movements.
The works were carried out within a 4-month window which was 3 months quicker that the time allowed. The works, methods, quality, and efficiency were greatly commended by Irish Rail and the design team.

The works involved the closing of the track line between Athlone and Westport over a bank holiday weekend. The existing track had to be lifted out to allow the ballast to be sucked out by a specialist suction tanker and the existing steel bridge deck exposed and cleaned for waterproofing
