Mayo Co. Council Road Bridge Remediation 2018
- Client: Mayo County Council
- Location: Ballyhaunis, Foxford & Crossmolina County Mayo
About this Project
This project involves the reconstruction of 3 road bridges on Regional Roads in Co. Mayo. These included Kilmannin, Moyview and Ferrew Bridges.
The works involved the installation of precast concrete piles on the bank of the existing stream which did not impact the flow/flora/fauna or the river stream/bed.
A headstock beam was then constructed over the precast concrete piles again preventing instream working as required by Inland Fisheries Ireland.
Precast curved units were designed and made off site (to the shape of the existing arch bridge structure) and were lifted into position and placed within preformed rebates with the headstock beam.
This then allowed the parapet walls to be constructed and backfilling to take place and the roadworks be complete all again without impacting the river flow or riverbed conditions.
